The Harlequin Clowns…Picasso’s Acrobat and Young Harlequin has been a favorite painting of mine since a very young age.
I some how connected it with my father taking me to see the world famous Ringling Brothers Circus every year. It has been written that Picasso Acrobat series was a definitive statement on the artistic life, questioning to as who are these wanderers, even more transient than we artist ourselves. I have always found this piece very powerful yet quite sad. It’s bold red color and simple composition has led me to create a fun pop version using pompoms and glitter, I think it will always be popular with children.
Pablo Picasso. Acrobat and Young Harlequin. 1905. Oil on canvas. Barnes Foundation, Lincoln University, Merion, PA, USA.

"There is pure beauty and love in watching a child create, they get lost in their experience right before your eyes, teaching us all the magic of staying present. It is an extraodinarying rewarding process to witness!"
