The Harlequin Clowns…Picasso’s Acrobat and Young Harlequin has been a favorite painting of mine since a very young age.
I some how connected it with my father taking me to see the world famous Ringling Brothers Circus every year. It has been written that Picasso Acrobat series was a definitive statement on the artistic life, questioning to as who are these wanderers, even more transient than we artist ourselves. I have always found this piece very powerful yet quite sad. It’s bold red color and simple composition has led me to create a fun pop version using pompoms and glitter, I think it will always be popular with children.
