American pop artist Perry Milou has announced the opening of Palette Kids Inc. at 116 S. 19th Street in Philadelphia. Milou's curriculum will be geared toward students between five years of age through high school, and will focus on painting, drawing and sculpture.
A forty-three year-old lifelong Philadelphian, Milou fell in love with teaching children while assisting Main Line art teacher Audrey Fox while home from college during the summers in the late 1980s. "You can see when a child 'gets' art," said Milou. "A kid that loves creating art seems to get lost in the experience right before your eyes. It's really an extraordinary process to witness." Milou's credo, which he calls "unstructured structure," is to allow students limitless opportunity, tools and guidance to develop their own inspirations.
Palette Kids will maintain a 2:1 student to instructor ratio, with a maximum of ten students per two-hour session. The cost to enroll is $200 for five classes. All materials will be provided.
